The Food Bank of Northeast Georgia’s Senior Hunger services are a group of programs designed to address and alleviate senior food insecurity. These programs include Senior Staples and the Senior Mobile Pantry programs. If you are looking to participate in these programs as a Member to provide a service or as a senior looking to receive a service, please contact our Senior Nutrition Specialist, Noah Cooke, at ncooke@foodbanknega.org or (706) 713-9315.

Senior Staples Program

The Senior Staples program distributes boxes of a months’ worth of supplemental, shelf-stable food assistance to over 600 seniors in the community each month. These boxes contain both ready to eat and easy to prepare ingredients to help seniors get the nutrition they need. The Food Bank provides these boxes to participating Members in our 15-county region, who then serve the boxes to seniors in their county.

Senior Mobile Pantry

The Senior Mobile Pantry program distributes bulk food directly to seniors at local senior centers and senior sites. The program utilizes refrigerated trucks from the Food Bank’s fleet to set up a farmers market style event where seniors can receive up to 50 pounds of fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy, meats, and shelf-stable foods. This program is designed to eliminate the need for expensive and large cold storage options on site and to bring food directly to people in their own communities.

For every $1 the Food Bank receives, we are able to distribute 3 balanced meals
