The Food Bank of Northeast Georgia’s Senior Hunger services are a group of programs designed to help alleviate the daily threat of hunger for food-insecure seniors in the community. These programs include the Senior Brown Bag and the Senior Mobile Pantry programs.

Senior Brown Bag Program

The Senior Brown Bag program distributes supplemental food bags once a month to over 400 seniors in the community. These bags contain an average of 38 pounds of food and include both ready to eat and easy to prepare ingredients to help seniors get the nutrition they need. Food Bank staff and volunteers distribute these bags directly to seniors in their homes. Over the last year 7,673 Senior Brown Bags were distributed directly to the homes of the seniors the program serves.

Senior Mobile Pantry

The Senior Mobile Pantry program distributes bulk food directly to seniors at local senior centers. The program utilizes refrigerated trucks from the Food Bank’s fleet to set up a farmers market style event where seniors can receive up to 50 pounds of fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy, meats, and shelf-stable foods. This program is designed to eliminate the need for expensive and large cold storage options on site and to bring food directly to people in their own communities.

For every $1 the Food Bank receives, we are able to distribute up to 4 meals.
